ECB2009: Austria Champion
The Austrian national team qualified for the next A-group European Championship of American Football, which will be held in Frankfurt, Germany in 2010. Team Austria beat the national team of Denmark 42:0 in the Gold medal game on Saturday night at the Lavanttal Arena in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. It was another shutout for Austria’s dominant defense, which limited its opponents offenses to three points total overall. Running Back Andrej Kliman was honoured the “Game MVP” as he scored three touchdowns during the final, running back Mario Nerad scored two touchdowns. The Danish national team showed lots of talent throughout the tournament, but in the end Team Austria is the undisputed Champion of the B-group European Championship presented by Bet-at-home.com.
Andrej Kliman, Running back, MVP: "This is great. I was a little banged up after the national season in Austria ended and, honestly, I wasn’t to motivated to play another full week of Football plus practice camp, but this changes everything. The last two weeks have been amazing. Playing for the Austrian national team together with the best players, this truly is a huge honour and an outstanding experience. I can not wait to play the national team of Germany next year in Frankfurt."
