EUROBOWL Tournament, 1st game day

Defending Champion Braunschweig has to play in France, Amsterdam receives Frankfurt

On the first day of the EUROBOWL Tournament, the defending champion of the New Yorker Lions from Braunschweig will play at the French top team of Flash La Courneuve at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Stade Géo André. The North Germans start their mission to win the EUROBOWL for the fourth time in a row.

However, in the first game of the season the BIG6-champion has to integrate more than 20 new players after a break on their roster. However, the Lions committed high-profile players from other European countries as well as several German national players.

The big advantage of the French is the match practice. In the domestic league played Flash already six games, but there were already two defeats by four victories. Nevertheless, the ten-time French champion is highly motivated in the encounter against Braunschweig, as yet both games against the Lions in the battle for the EUROBOWL in 2003 and 2015 have been lost.

"We expect a difficult task against La Courneuve. Flash has a talented team with many young players and good imports", said Lions Head Coach Troy Tomlin. "But we will be well prepared and do our best."

Amsterdam Crusaders expect Samsung Frankfurt Universe

Also on Saturday, the Amsterdam Crusaders expect the Samsung Frankfurt Universe at 6 p.m. in the second match of the EUROBOWL tournament.

The Dutch have yet an open bill - they lost in the EFL final 2016 in Frankfurt with 35:21 and missed the title.

Last year's EUROBOWL participant from Frankfurt, despite the current problems, will do the best in the Netherlands to reach the final again. Like all German participants in the international competitions, the guest does not have any competition practice this season. The Crusaders want to build on old successes, after all, the Dutch respectively won the EUROBOWL in 1991 and 1992.

EUROBOWL Tournament, 1st game day:

Saturday, April 14th, 3 p.m., Stade Géo André: Flash La Courneuve - New Yorker Lions

Saturday, April 14th, 6 p.m., Sportpark Sloten: Amsterdam Crusaders - Samsung Frankfurt Universe
