EFL: Decision for second place in the final - Potsdam Royals receive the Calanda
Potsdam - On Sunday, the decision is made who will join the Milano Seamen in the EFL Bowl when the Potsdam Royals receive the Calanda Broncos in Group A at 2 p.m. in the Stadion Luftschiffhafen.
The calculation is quite simple: the winner is in the final, without any ifs or buts. After a victory of both teams against the Brussels Tigers, the game in the capital of Brandenburg is a final for the final.
Both teams are going with increased self-confidence in the encounter. The newcomer of the GFL was able to defeat the Berlin Rebels with 31:20 in the local derby last weekend, while the Broncos from Switzerland unstoppably gallop through the home league and have already clinched seven wins from seven games. They won all games with at least 21 points ahead.
For the Royals it is the first home game on an international level, the Swiss have already collected much more experience in European club competitions. Last but not least, they won the EUROBOWL against the Vienna Vikings in 2012.
But the successes of the past are of no use on Sunday, as well knows Broncos head coach Geoff Buffum: "This will be our biggest challenge of the year. Potsdam is talented, well-coached, and they have played very good teams and played them very tough, even in defeat. We will have to play a great game and catch some breaks to pull off this upset."
How to lead a team in a final, Buffom has proven not only with the Broncos. Already in 2008 he won the EUROBOWL with the Swarco Raiders Tirol as head on the sideline.
Nevertheless considering all facts the Royals are the favorites in front of their home crowd.
