Raiders win first European Cup among all team sports in Tyrol
With a spectacular 45: 0 win over Englands number one the Raiders made their biggest dream come true - EFAF Cup Champion 2004.
The Papa Joe's Tyrolean Raiders had a more than perfect start into the game. A 1 yard touchdown from FB Graeme Burns, followed by a 3 yard touchdown run from RB Florian Grein let the Raiders gain an early lead. RB Florian Grein reached the endzone 3 more times and also WR Chris Rosier scored, catching a precise pass from QB Geoff Buffum. Kicker Josef Schnellrieder scored 6 out of 6 extra points and a 25 yard field goal.
MVP Florian Grein
Everybody knew this trophy could only go to one player: Raiders RB Florian Grein
The leading RB in Austria was simply unstoppable: 171 yards and 4 touchdowns show the potential of this extraordinary player. 'Today was our day, said Florian Grein enjoyably modest, my linemen blocked very well, I just had to read and go for the holes.'
QB Geoff Buffum very strong
The O-line gave Buffum enough time to show what he can. He completed 16 passes out of 22 for a total of 229 yards. This is more than 73%. He played very smart using his 7 receivers and put extra pressure on the Knights defense that struggeled already with the running game.
4.700 spectators came to see that Raiders win. That is a new record in the Raiders history!
is Raiders Manager Daniel Dieplinger 's resume. We have been working hard for over 12 years to win a title, brought at the same time the first EFAF Cup trophy to Tyrol and won the first European Championship among all team sports in Innsbruck, so what else can you ask for?'
