EFAF: WARRIORS defeated by Schwaebisch Hall Unicorns

Winterthur WARRIORS vs. Schwaebisch Hall Unicorns 20:42 (TD 3:6)
Stadion Deutweg, around 450 spectators

Winterthur (Switzerland) - The Winterthur WARRIORS lost their game against the Schwaebisch Hall Unicorns by 20:42 in the EFAF-Cup which was the first appearance for both teams.

Despite very ugly weather around 500 visitors came to the Deutweg stadium in Winterthur to attend the first international appearance of the Winterthur WARRIORS. The home team was defeated by the visitors from Germany, the Schwaebisch Hall Unicorns by 20:42.

The first quarter was clearly won by the German team - they scored two touchdowns and realized all extra points. But the second quarter seemed to turn over the game to Winterthur when they twice got into the Unicorns end zone. Around 1 minute before the end of the second quarter the WARRIORS almost scored a third touchdown but fumbled the ball only on the 2nd yard line of the Unicorns.

The Unicorns started better into the second half of the game and did their best to keep the WARRIORS out of reach. In the end, the German team scored 6 touchdowns while the home team from Switzerland just scored 3 times. From an athletic and physical point of view both teams seemed to be equally fit, but as the WARRIORS offensive team played the first time in this composition it lacked of teamplay. Otherwise, one could hear from statements of the German coaches that they also have a lot of work to do before the new season in Germany starts.

1st 2nd 3rd 4th Halftime Final TD
WARRIORS 0 12 8 0 12 20 3
